Dr. VENKATESH MUNIKRISHNAN

Consultant - COLORECTAL & ROBOTIC SURGEON

DR VENKATESH MUNIKRISHNAN joined Apollo Hospitals in 2012 as Consultant Colorectal Surgeon. In 2016 He was instrumental in launching The Institute of Colorectal Surgery & The Robotic Colorectal Surgery Programme at Apollo Hospitals Chennai as the first standalone subspecialist unit in the private healthcare space in India. The Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery Programme at the Institute is one of the busiest in the country offering Robotic, Laparoscopic & Open Colorectal Surgery for both malignant and benign colorectal pathology. He has performed 600+ robotic colorectal cancer surgery procedures which is the highest volume in India using both the Intuitive & Medtronic Robotic platforms.

As Programme Director for the Apollo Robotic Colorectal Surgery Programme he has helped develop the Robotic Colorectal Surgery Programme across the Apollo Hospitals network. This includes developing standardized colorectal cancer surgery procedures, assessing new robotic platforms, achieving world class outcomes and cost effective robotic colorectal surgery programmes. He has worked with surgeons at Apollo Hospitals across the country to adopt Robotics into their colorectal surgery practice. He was conferred as Professor of Colorectal Surgery by AHERF in April 2023
